Also this year, as a club we will be deciding how much we’d
like to commit to helping with Project Independence, the quadrennial
project selected by Soroptimist International. It is a program
that provides micro-loans and training to 1200 women who live
in Bosnia, Rwanda, and Afghanistan. These women are participating
in the project in hopes to create a life worth living after
the ravages of war have ripped through their countries. I love
this project and hope that our club will be able to figure prominently
in this humanitarian effort to help these women advance their
status in life.
It’s
hard to grasp how powerful Soroptimist International is and
how much of a positive difference we can make as members. I
encourage each of you to become even more involved and attend
a Regional and/or District meeting. That is where I saw the
true scope of this organization’s impact on making a difference
in a woman’s life. I hope you are as excited as I am about
the next few months as we start raising money to host programs
that we feel meet our mission: To advance the status of women
and girls locally and around
the world.
In Soroptimist
Friendship,
