Combine 70 high school girls; 4 scientist speakers; platters of
fruit, veggies, cheese, and meat from Oak Table Cafe and what
do you have? Ingredients for a successful WIN “Women
in Science” luncheon, all sponsored by Soroptimist of Sequim.
Yes, our luncheon on the 19th was a huge success. The women speakers
were from Olympic Nat’l Park, Olympic Medical Center, Fish
and Wildlife and Batelle. They had power point presentations and
shared wonderful stories. They were very down-to-earth, and even
told of situations where men tried to get in there way, and sometimes
still do. They gave great advice to the girls. The audience of girls
was attentive, inquisitive, interested, and
all-around great!
In February the girls go to Univ. of Washington for a tour; March
is “Women in Flight” at Boeing; May will be a send-off
dinner (plans in the works).
Thanks for everyone’s support and making this a great WIN
year!
