“There is no hope of joy except in human relations.”
- Antoine de Sainte-Exupery

Julianna Moreno was one of the WIN students that spoke at the WIN Celebration in November. This is what Julianna shared that evening - in her own words:

I wasn’t sure I could climb the pole especially since it was 30 feet tall. The more I kept thinking about it, the faster my heart beat and the more my hand sweated. I finally decided to climb the pole then the hard part came making myself stand up. I finally did it and it felt great.

It was a feeling I will never forget. And to this date, my hands start to sweat. Hello my name is Julianna, and I was asked by Ms. Sanders to speak for the WIN Dessert meeting. I decided to speak about how much I enjoyed being in the WIN Program, especially the ROPES Course. The quote I started out saying was from my personal experience. I decided to do the ROPES Course because I thought it would be fun and challenging, but never did I think it would be that fun and that challenging. The ROPES Course is a great challenging course especially for women because it helps them mentally, physically and emotionally. But the most important thing is you make amazing friends and have the best time. So I hope you will have as much fun as I did in the WIN Program.

Thank you.
Julianna Moreno

Dear Soroptimist friends:

On behalf of the Foster Parents and their children I thank you so much for your continued contribution to our “Clothes Closet.” You have helped so much!

Our “Clothes Closet” with clothing items from newborn to teens, both girls and boys, enables children entering the foster homes (usually with baggage but no luggage) to select clothes that are much needed. This very much helps the foster parents financially and enables the children to go off to school and out into our community looking and feeling good. We all know when we look good we feel good.

Your generous donations certainly are appreciated. They bring smiles to many children!

Thank you very much

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THESE CHARACTERS?

It’s Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and the Wicked Witch of the West at the District Meeting in October. Governor Lynette’s theme is the Neverending Story. For the dinner Saturday night attendees were encouraged to dress like characters from a book. President Sandy suggested members of SI/Sequim dress like the Wizard of Oz characters. Can you guess who is behind the costumes? Women making a difference for women, of course!
