WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS

PHILIPPA MANLEY
My immediate family includes my husband Joshua, dog Brendelle, cat Karma, cat Oscar. My extended family includes a set of parents in California and another set of parents in Nevada
.

We have lived in Sequim for one year. As newlyweds, we wanted a place in the country, a small enough community where we could get involved and navigate, potentially buy a house.

I have a background in Human Resources with seven years experience in San Francisco. Currently I work as a Business Developer for the new staffing service, Express Personnel. I am also the Market Manger for Sequim Open Aire Market. Highlights of my career include roles in a dotcom companies, hiring tech employees. I was also a start-up Store Manager for a new store in Union Square, San Francisco.

. LAURA MARONEY
I was born in West Tennessee and moved to Seattle in 1985. I got married in 1987 to my husband Sid. I got my opticians license in 1985 and worked in many different areas of eye care at Seattle Eye Care for 18 years.

At the start of the internet craze I started an informational website regarding the eye and vision called eyesearch.com. It was a very exciting time and I learned so much from the experience.

After September 11th, 2001 Sid and I decided we should not wait to live where we wanted and so we moved to Sequim and I started a new career as a real estate agent at Windermere Sunland. We love the outdoors and feel truly blessed to be living in Sequim. I am happy to be a new member of such a great organization.

I was married in 1963 and had 2 children.  As of today I have 3 grandson’s and a grandchild on the way, due in April.

I remarried in 1987, my husband Don McKeta ,who played football at the U of W when the team played in two Rose Bowls 1960 and 1961. We have been very involved with the football season for the past 15 years taking customers and friends to the games by boat. We are both retired, we bought property in Emerald Highlands 8 years ago and built a home, we moved here in June. We moved to Sequim to get out of the city and enjoy a more peaceful setting, we love it here.  I enjoy cooking, golfing and boating and look forward to being an active Soroptimist.  I have Kathy Purcell to be thankful to for introducing me to this wonderful organization.

retired from the federal government after 28 years. During that time, I worked in Okinawa during the Vietnam War for Military Intelligence; then went to work for the Forest Service as a Systems Analyst. I also was on a National Overhead Team for wild land fire fighting and a Federal Women’s Program Manager. I worked in Montana, California, Washington DC, and Arizona prior to retirement. After retiring from the Forest Service, I went to work as a contractor in Fairbanks for Alyeska Pipeline, where I did technical writing for 4 years; then worked as a contractor for the Forest Service again in Denver, CO working on an integrated dispatch program with Lockheed Martin.

I worked as a volunteer for 4 years as a Rape Crisis hot line counselor and Woman’s advocate. I’ve also been a leasing agent in a high-rise apartment complex, and even did Pizza Hut delivery for a short time. I’m presently a sales associate with Windermere Realty in SunLand and am enjoying working with and meeting new people each day. My family and friends are my first passion; next would be women’s rights and protecting those rights.
