Letter from the Editor
Dear Friends:

It’s a new Soroptimist year! We have a new club president and a new committee structure. Have you noticed the new look of the SI/Sequim website <sisequim.com>? If you have been to the Members Only area of the NWR website <soroptimistnwr.com>, you will recognize its influence on the new look of our club website. There is also a new logo for Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA)!

President Sandy called me just after she returned from the Federation Convention in Calgary telling me about the new SIA logo. She asked me if our club roster books had been printed yet. I had done the layout for the roster book and it had been proofed by Sally Sue Barry, Jeanne Martin and President Sandy – before she left for the convention. (Thank you, Sally Sue, Jeanne and Sandy for being the eyes for this!)

  While Sandy was gone, I made all the changes and the layout was ready – but it had not gone to the printer yet. Sandy swore me to secrecy, asking me to put the new SIA logo on the front of our roster book. Although the new logo was announced at the Federation Convention, Sandy wanted to introduce it to the club at our Brainstorming meeting – when she distributed the roster books. And that is exactly what President Sandy did! The new logo received accolade from our members.

Our Brainstorming meeting at the end of August was so motivating! First of all, there were 27 members who attended! Plus Heidi Ennes (who will officially become a member within days of the release of this issue of the Soropti-Scoop!) and Jane Manzer’s mom was there too! The energy and enthusiasm were high! What a way to start off our Soroptimist year!

With the new committee structure, comes some new challenges and new learning curves – for committee heads as well as our members. As we move through these exciting times and write this year’s chapter of our Neverending Story, let’s remember the Sincerity of Friendship. And if a challenge seems overwhelming at first, let us recall something from one of our past presidents (that would be me) – let’s take three deep breaths (3DB’s) together…

Light and Love,

"But friendship is precious,
not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life;
and thanks to a benevolent arrangement of things,
the greater part of life is sunshine."
