INTERNET COORDINATOR UPDATE |
||||
Dear Soroptimist Sisters. Last year I helped enter older Program Focus Reports (PFR's) into the NWR web database. Some of the projects were quite interesting. Although I had entered PFR’s before for our club, a light bulb started to flicker in my brain when I entered reports for other clubs. The PFR’s are a valuable tool. After agreeing to head the clubs's Communications/Image Committee, I looked up information on Soroptimist public relations and image. The Image Award Book is a permanent record of our PR activities. One part of the Image Award Book is Program Focus Reports. A few weeks ago I was talking with president-elect Megan O’Donnell about the NWR website and how to get more members to access it. Megan mentioned that there are so many good PFR’s available and suggested having a contest that would involve members reading some of these. After input from the Communications/Image Committee and President Sandy we came up with a contest that will be a winner for all of us. A flyer about the contest was included in the packet that was handed out to members at our October 11 club meeting. See information about the contest on page 11. Many of the projects that will have Program Focus Reports will lend themselves to articles for the NWR NewsOnline section of the Region website <soroptimistnwr.com>. Articles submitted to the NWR NewsOnline are viewable by anyone. (And you can include pictures!) This is a good way to share our accomplishments with Soroptimist and non-Soroptimist alike. By the time this Soropti-Scoop is distributed, it will be only a matter of days until the District 1 meeting. Most of you know that I accepted the (newly created) position of District 1 Web Development Team Rep. Educating our members is important. Education makes us more productive; it opens new doors; it shows us opportunities we may not have known. Education helps us learn more about ourselves. I invite each of you to become more educated about Soroptimist. Visit the NWR website <soroptimistnwr.com> often. Updates and new information are added regularly. Kathy Purcell
