Challenging The ROPES ![]() |

The Education/WIN Committee sponsored the ROPES Challenge Course on October 29th. An invitation was sent out to club members who to participate. Two members did: Sally Sue Barry and Penny Wolf. It is wonderful to have a long time member and a newer member get involved with a WIN event! Sally Sue has wanted to do the ROPES Course for many years, but somehow the timing didn’t work out – until this year. Here’s
what Sally Sue wrote in an email:
Both Penny & I survived the ROPES Course. Fun, cold & tiring. It was a long day. I didn’t do all the course, but enjoyed several of the challenges. The girls were very encouraging. I
really enjoyed watching the girls interact – and taking different
roles as the day progressed – assuming the leadership sometimes,
offering suggestions and possible solutions, etc.
One of the gals was taking digital pics for the school yearbook. It was Tomi Kay Thompson who was at our Oct 28 meeting with her sister, selling FFA raffle tickets. ![]() Sally Sue Barry, Penny Wolf, Mitzi Sanders, Trudy Robbins, Michell Gentry (ROPES Course Facilitators) |

Here’s what Penny wrote about ROPES in an email: It was a great day - a little chilly, but dry! I took pictures with Sally Sue’s camera... Sally Sue did the wobbly log and board/rope walker(?),
we played the ice breaker games. The rest of the skills we left to the
girls. There were about 20 girls, I think. They all had a great time
and so looked forward to the “high” climbs at the end. But
in between it all they did learn communication, planning, cooperation
- and I loved all the smiles and laughs! Totally enjoyed the day.
One of the goals of the Education/WIN Committee this year is to
get more Soroptimist members to participate in WIN events. Sally Sue
and Penny have helped us meet that goal. Thank you Sally Sue and Penny
for taking the time to get involved and to represent our club. |
