GARDEN SHOW REPORT

Mark these dates. . . March 20 and 21, 2004. . . for that is the weekend of our 6th Annual Gala Garden Show and Sale. The Core Committee is enthusiastically building on last year’s success with even more good ideas.

First, instead of the silent auction, we’re going to hold a raffle in conjunction with the show. Raffle Chairman, Dale Simon, has already procured a garden wagon which we will fill with donated, garden-related items. Raffle tickets will be sold before and during the Garden Show. The plan is to “wheel” our wagon into other service organizations’ meetings, grocery stores, etc. to promote the Garden Show and to, of course, sell both raffle tickets and pre-printed Garden Show tickets!

The vendor booth fee has been raised to $100 for the two days to enable us to do more advertising and promoting of the show. Peg Rinker and Kathy Purcell have sent out letters to over 100 prospective vendors telling them that they will see more people coming through which equates to more product going out the door.

Megan O’Donnell has mailed out a great letter to potential Corporate Sponsors explaining our four levels of sponsorship. They are:

Official Sponsor $2000
Major Sponsor $1000
Supportive Sponsor $ 500
Friends of the Garden Show $ 100

Jane Manzer will be stepping into the role of Garden Show treasurer while Diane Jones remains the club’s General Treasurer. (You might say they will be sharing the wealth of responsibility – or perhaps, the responsibility of wealth!- kp)

One goal of the committee is to attract more people from Port Angeles and Port Townsend to our show this year. We’ve discussed many possible ways of doing this but would welcome more ideas from the general membership.

Remember to mark your calendars. . .

Garden Show Core Committee Coordinator
