The
seven of us met Colleen at Marti’s store, Pacific Mist Books.
Our thanks go out to Marti for putting up with our loud voices as we
had our crash course in See’s candy parade sales. New member Dale
Simon matched up with Jeanne Martin; Louella Hanson matched up with
Gail Frick; new member Marilyn Gruber matched up with me; Leah volunteered
to work on her own, since we did not have an eighth person.

Marilyn and I walked the route to 5th Avenue and back, selling candy both legs of the trip. It took us about 1 ½ hours. We met the other See’s candy teams back at Leah’s place, Cole’s Jewelry. Preliminary counting was done by each team. ![]() Leah Tuttle and Gail Frick - we can count on them . . . |

In my See’s candy selling team, I was the money
handler, while Marilyn pushed the candy – both on the dolly and
with her voice. We had one of the best “seats in the house”
although we were walking, not sitting. We walked in the street, very
near the curb. Our route was the north side of Washington Street, west
from Sequim Avenue to 5th Avenue. We walked along selling See’s
candy bars and lollipops. Periodically we would stop and watch some
of the parade entries.

Then Leah and Gail counted all the money again. I think they just like the feel of the “green” stuff. ![]() Leah Tuttle, Marilyn Gruber, Kathy Purcell, Colleen Blazier The best part of the parade was seeing the happy faces – in the crowd watching and in the participants in the parade. It is a feeling, an experience you can not buy. Thank you, Soroptimist Sisters, and everyone who showed up to share the day! Kathy

We
saw some of our own members. Ann Salmon, with husband Dave, was riding
in a fire truck. Patsene Twiss was the "leader of the band"
for the Sequim Middle School. We recognized her daughter Chelsea beating
on the drums; she's come to several of our early morning Soroptimist
meetings with her Mom. Sherry Schubert was "our" Soroptimist
ambassador on the VIP viewing stand.

We also saw member Marie Angier who was in charge of the parade this year. Big waves were exchanged. |
